EV charging + BESS · all-in-one

EV charger with built-in BESS

120 kWh · 30 kW grid input · 60 kW shared output

One enclosure combines a 120 kWh LFP battery, a 30 kW bidirectional grid module and reversible DC-DC modules. The battery charges slowly from the grid and delivers fast DC charging to two CCS-2 guns, while AC Type 2, a 3.3 kW socket and a light-EV Type 6 / 7 output run from the same system. On grid failure, enabled outputs keep running on battery.

Conceptual architecture. Case 1 and Case 2 use the same DC modules in mutually exclusive modes. The 60 kW cap includes AC, CCS-2 and light-EV outputs. Pack topology is illustrative; converter voltage range, usable-energy window and final topology are confirmed at order.

Normal operation

  • Grid → 30 kW AC-DC module → battery, at up to 30 kW.
  • Battery → DC-DC modules → CCS-2: one EV at up to 60 kW, or two at 30 kW each.
  • EMS allocates the 60 kW shared cap across CCS-2, AC and light-EV outputs.

Grid failure

  • Grid is isolated automatically.
  • Enabled outputs continue on battery-backed supply.
  • On grid return, battery charging resumes under EMS limits.

External DC recharge

  • The same reversible DC-DC modules accept up to 60 kW from a compatible external DC charger.
  • The BESS acts as the charging client through an interlocked CCS-2 inlet.
  • Roughly 2 h for 120 kWh at 60 kW on an ideal energy basis.

Design-basis values from a TOBOR project offer. *Cycle life depends on cell OEM specification, depth of discharge, temperature, C-rate and end-of-life criterion. Final ratings, certifications and performance guarantees follow the approved project-specific design.

Best for
  • Sites where the grid connection is too small for a 60 kW DC charger
  • Fleet and cab hubs mixing cars, 3W and 2W
  • CPO locations that need charging to continue through outages
  • Interim sites waiting for a grid upgrade
